Iwo Jima was also one of the very few battles, and the only one in the last year of the war, where American casualties actually outnumbered Japanese casualties (though the Japanese suffered a lot more dead than the Americans).

Sad thing is that taking Iwo was probably unnecessary and simply wasted lives.

A lot of what your asking for can be solved by going to better companies just saying...but...no union would ever take a contract with a retail store who actually intends to do anything.  "fight for 15" during a live stream totally ignored me and several other people for asking questions related to what their plans were if they did get a contract, what the dues would be, etc.  Unions are interested in $20 an hour amazon workers who can afford the higher end dues, they are interested in $30 an hour people on the assembly lines in Detroit area auto plants...basically any union willing to take a contract with a retail store where even the assistant manager is part time and nobody makes much over minimum wage is very likely to be just looking for some quick dues.  Unfortunately its just not a industry that is attractive to unions who actually want to make work better

**Izumi Defense Reform**

The Battle for Republic City, Formation of Earth Empire incident, and the subsequent invasion to the United Republic of Nations shows a lot of breakthrough in military technologies and tactics. It is clear to Fire Lord Izumi that the ageing Fire Nation Defence Forces strength is not enough to defend the Fire Nation in times of full scale invasion. While Fire Nation rely on diplomatic means to secure the peace and protection since Fire Lord Zuko, Fire Lord Izumi saw first hand that strong military is still needed to provide deterrence against possible aggression from rouge actors.

At 174 AG, In the aftermath of Earth Empire invasion and it’s defeat, Fire Lord Izumi managed to secure enough popular support to enact full reformation to the army and the navy. More commonly called as Izumi Defense Reform, this reformation goals is to expand the overall strength of the army and the navy, reorganise the army into a more flexible combined arms units, and accelerate the research and adaptation of new technologies, such as airplanes and armoured vehicles.

**The Army**

The main goals of reformation is to reorganise the army to utilise the new technologies more effectively, reorganise the division into a combined arms unit, consisting infantries, tanks, artilleries, airships, and airplanes, each capable of independent operations.

The reformation also expand the army significantly by introducing 4 new Brigades to experiment into smaller combined arms unit and test new tactics in different environment, like mountains and amphibious warfare. It also introduce the formation of highly specialised force unit, the air assault specialist “Dragonborn”, Ship boarding and infiltration specialist “Serpent Rider”, and a highly classified elite units of pure fire benders, “Warrior of the Sun”.

The reformation also includes funding for development into new airplanes, airships, and armoured vehicles. There is also special funding for pushing the new usage of high-precision lightning bending for sending information, which result into the technology of wire-guided rocket missile.  


**The Navy**

Since the dissolution of offensive raider fleets in the aftermath of hundred years war, a lot of old ships are mothballed, waiting to be decommissioned and scrapped. The Reformation put hold into this, reactivate the old ships to be refitted and upgraded with new technologies, and converted into new class of destroyers. Development for new, heavier cruiser are also put into orders. The fleets reorganised into 5 Fleets, and constructions of new ships later formed 2 brand new expeditionary fleets, tasked to patrol the international oceans far beyond Fire Nation maritime borders.

There are also classified projects for 3 new class of large platform ships, 2 of which revealed later to be Caldera-class Battleship with platforms large enough for large cannons and large wire-guided rocket missiles, and Szeto-Class Airship Support Carriers with open platforms to supply fleets of airships capable of forward reconnaissance, flying gun platform for aerial fire support, and forward logistics. 

The last class name and specifications are yet to be announced, but it was revealed the purpose is to bring aircrafts into sea combat, dubbed “Aircraft Carrier”.

**The Aftermath**

In 175 AG, Fire Lord Izumi proudly announce the reformation is now completed, with exception of some ships that still under constructions. She emphasise that Fire Nation still maintaining its pacifist, non-intervention stance, and the new force is only as deterrence against possible enemies of Fire Nation, and willing to work with the Avatar and other nations to use the force to maintain the world peace. To prove this, Fire Lord Izumi announce positions of High Observer of the Fire Army and High Observer of the Fire Navy, both appointed by Fire Lord, and with approval of other nations head of state, to Air Nation civilian to serve as neutral observer to the army.

I created this map long time ago with intention to  add a lot more details (topology, road, city names, etc), but a lot of things happened and I lose my motivation to continue and just leave it unfinished. Now I just want it to be released, so I did a minimal touch up to finish it as it is. Hope you like it!

Why doesn't the 1st Expeditionary Fleet have any organic airship carriers? Is it getting the one still under construction? this fleet seems more strategically important than the Western Fleet which has two of them.
